SUBJECT:  Special Order of Business  Commission Activities Report 

At the first Commission meeting of every month, the Commission will note its major
activities of the previous month. Activities during the month of August 2012 included: 
Participated in one Century Agenda outreach event. 
Held a Commission retreat to discuss the Century Agenda. 
Hosted the 3rd Working Waterfront boat tour and cruise. 
Attended U.S. Navy and Seafair events. 
Represented the Port at the Employer Recognition event organized by the Chief of
Naval Reserve in Washington, D.C. 
Met with a King County Councilmember. 
Met with the Muckleshoot Preservation Committee. 
Met with the Coalition for America's Gateways & Trade Corridors, Airports
Council International-North America and the U.S. Travel Association in
Washington, D.C. 
Provided welcoming remarks at Senator Maria Cantwell's media event on freight
mobility (also attended by U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood). 
Attended the Mercer Corridor Stakeholder Committee event in honor of Senator
Patty Murray. 
Attended the memorial service for former Port of Tacoma Commissioner Jack
Fabulich. 
Hosted a group of Iraqi students on a Port tour.

Web pages are fluid in nature, and the exact positioning of PDF text creates presentation problems.
PDFs that are full page graphics, or scanned pages are generally unable to be made accessible, In these cases, viewing whatever plain text could be extracted is the only alternative.
