PORT OF SEATTLE MEMORANDUM COMMISSION AGENDA Item No. 8b Date of Meeting July 26, 2011 DATE: July 21, 2011 TO: Tay Yoshitani, Chief Executive Officer FROM: Mary Gin Kennedy, Director, Commission Services SUBJECT: Commission Discussion of a (Draft) Proposed Directive on Worker Retention for the Concessions Program at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport The Port Commission plans to discuss a proposed directive on worker retention for the Concessions Program at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Airport). The Port Commission will take public testimony on this agenda item at the July 26 meeting, but no final action will be taken on the proposed directive at this meeting. The discussion may cover the following topics: The type of Concessions Program the Airport will operate in future years and the requirements of any Requests for Proposals for prime concessionaires and direct leases. The establishment of a worker retention policy for prime concessionaires. The establishment of a "Concession Worker Pool" for prime concessionaires. The applicability of any Commission directive to Disadvantaged Business Enterprises and non-prime concessionaires. The next steps the Commission intends to take regarding the draft proposed directive.
