PORT OF SEATTLE MEMORANDUM COMMISSION AGENDA STAFF BRIEFING Item No. 7e Date of Meeting May 10, 2011 DATE: April 29, 2011 TO: Tay Yoshitani, Chief Executive Officer FROM: Mark Reis, Managing Director, Sea-Tac Airport SUBJECT: Integrated Emergency Management Course (IEMC): Sea-Tac Airport BACKGROUND: As part of the Airport's and Port's emergency preparedness program to ensure that the Airport is able to respond to, and recover quickly from, a major natural disaster, a group of Port employees (as well as Commissioner Tarleton) and key partner-agency stakeholders attended a week-long Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)-hosted training exercise in Maryland April 18 - 22. The goal of this exercise was to test and assess our existing plans and policies in a challenging but controlled environment in order to identify gaps to be addressed. On May 10, 2011, staff will brief the Commission on the FEMA IEMC and provide an opportunity for questions and discussion.
