AHS/Port Funding Agreement
Agreement to provide $15 million to AHS
In last 4 years, funds were used to:
Renovate & lease interim space
Invest in start-up technology
$10 million will be provided for
construction of the new facility

Curriculum
Only public, college-prep, aviation themed school in NW
Goal: Premier school for science, technology, engineering and
math (STEM)
Core classes and hands-on electives, such as Aerospace
Engineering & Introduction to Robotics, provide real world
relevancy
Project -based learning focuses on aerospace & aviation
Students work closely with mentors from Boeing, Alaska
Airlines, the Port, and the local aviation community

100% writing proficiency ( '09 tied for 1st out of 415 )
One of the nation's best high schools for preparing

$1 - $1.5 million in scholarships have been awarded to 72
of 100 graduates

aerospace to ensure relevance of program
Invited by Museum of Flight to build and reside on its
property = Unprecedented opportunity for an extended
learning lab and model for STEM education
