Washington Public Ports Association and
Nine Puget Sound/Columbia River Ports
Endangered Species Act liaison

Request
Requesting Commission authorization for the E.D. to execute a
five-year ILA with the Washington Public Ports Association and
nine Puget Sound and Columbia River ports.
Facilitates Endangered Species Act liaison to conduct reviews for
NOAA and USFWS on behalf of ports.
Total of up to $300,000 funded through future capital projects --
no funding is being requested at this time.

Background
Liaison position was hosted by Port of Tacoma previously
Improves/expedites reviews for port projects under ESA
Will be co-located with NMFS/USFWS office
Nine other ports participating:
Port of Vancouver USA    Port of Everett           Port of Olympia
Port of Anacortes         Port of Kalama            Port of Port Angeles
Port of Bellingham        Port of Longview          Port of Tacoma

Limitations of Translatable Documents

PDF files are created with text and images are placed at an exact position on a page of a fixed size.
Web pages are fluid in nature, and the exact positioning of PDF text creates presentation problems.
PDFs that are full page graphics, or scanned pages are generally unable to be made accessible, In these cases, viewing whatever plain text could be extracted is the only alternative.
