Dear Port of Seattle Commissioners --
I am writing to comment on agenda item 11b, "2020 Northwest Ports Clean Air Strategy and
Port of Seattle's Climate and Air Action Plan."
I urge you to consider not just facilities emissions -- but emissions from fuel burned by planes
travelling in and out of Sea-Tac -- when setting goals for GHG emissions reductions. Almost
all of the emissions from Sea-Tac come from fuel burned by airplanes travelling in and out of
Sea-Tac. Reducing emissions from facility operations while laying the groundwork for
massive increases in air traffic is meaningless: emissions from the increased traffic will
outweigh any reductions many, many times over.
We now have nine years to cut our GHG emissions in half to avoid the most catastrophic
effects of the climate crisis. There is no time for incremental measures, nor any leeway for
increased emissions. You must take bold steps toward aviation degrowth, and at the very least
halt any expansion or increases in air traffic.

Thank you,
Tyrell Hedlund

PDF files are created with text and images are placed at an exact position on a page of a fixed size.
Web pages are fluid in nature, and the exact positioning of PDF text creates presentation problems.
