Public Comment - Exhibit F
From: sarah shifley To: Commission-Public-Records Subject: [EXTERNAL] Comment for 2/9/21 Port Meeting Date: Sunday, February 7, 2021 12:36:00 PM WARNING: External email. Links or attachments may be unsafe. Dear Port of Seattle Commission Staff -- Below is a written comment for the 2/9/21 regular meeting. When summarizing my comment, please do so as follows: "The 2021 Aviation Committee Work Plan must include determining how aviation emissions will be reduced 50% by 2030. Biofuels don't reduce co2 from fuelburning , and aviation emissions have a three times greater climate warming impact than onthe-ground emissions, so bold, immediate action to reduce aviation is necessary." Also, please confirm receipt of this comment. Thanks! Sarah __________________ Dear Commissioners, I am writing to provide comment on agenda item 11a, the 2021 Committee Work Plans. The Aviation Committee Work Plan must include determining how the Port will meet its goal of reducing Scope 3 aviation emissions 50% by 2030 (from 2007 levels). 2030 is only 9 years away, and biofuels (aka "sustainable aviation fuels") don't reduce -- or significantly reduce -- co2 emissions from fuel burn. Also, you must account for the fact that aviation emissions have triple the warming impact of on-the-ground emissions, making it even more essential to drastically reduce aviation emissions immediately. There is no time left for incremental measures. You must take effective, bold action to reduce aviation and related emissions NOW. Thank you, Sarah
