Links or attachments may be unsafe. Here is my testimony (written only) for Tuesday's meeting. I hope you have time to read the whole thing because it is very short. Commissioners, The preliminary budget that will be presented in item 11a is mostly focused on staffing, but begins with a Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats overview. Under Threats, it says "Climate Change moves inexorably forward". I want to call your attention to the word "inexorably", which means that climate change is impossible to stop. I don't think you believe that, or you wouldn't be working so hard to be the "Greenest and Most Energy-Efficient Port in North America". Climate disruption will be difficult to stop, that is true, and so I urge you to be even bolder in your efforts, and to take seriously your Scope 3 emission reduction goals. Hello - Please see below for Uber's public comment in reference to the Sept 28th Port of Seattle Commission Meeting. ------------ DATE: September 28, 2021 TO: Port of Seattle Commissioners FROM: Loren Kosloske, Senior Manager, Uber SUBJECT: Public Comment - South 160th Street Lot Commissioners, Thank you for taking time to discuss improvement opportunities at the South 160th Street Lot. Uber is aligned and fully supportive with Laurel Dunphy and Wayne Grotheer's recommendation for Alternative 3 - Provide Permanent Lighting, Electric Vehicle Chargers, and Restrooms. Each month, Uber asks a cohort of our driver-partners how their experience is at SEA and improved lighting and access to proper restroom facilities is consistently at the top of the list for improvements. These recommendations are especially true for driver-partners that identify as female. Additionally, thousands of driver-partners chose to voice their support for permanent restroom facilities last year by emailing the commission and airport staff directly. Improving lighting conditions and providing access to proper restroom facilities with running water are important components to ensure our driver-partners feel safe, valued and remain healthy while servicing travelers at SEA. In terms of EV chargers, Uber is committed and has publicly stated that we will be a zero- emission platform by 2030 in Seattle. In order to meet that goal, EV infrastructure is a critical requirement. For this reason, we are excited for the opportunity to have 10 EV chargers installed and accessible to our driver-partners. Going forward, we will do all we can to help drive EV adoption and ensure driver-partner awareness and utilization of the chargers once live. Thanks, Loren Kosloske Senior Manager Uber Technologies Inc.
